Hello & welcome!
My name is Simonne and I'm originally from a small town on the East Coast beaches of New Zealand, however my boyfriend and I now live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney where it's a lot warmer. We're both beach people and we absolutely love living by the ocean and the lifestyle it offers.
I started my blog after a pretty severe episode and diagnosis of Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in May 2015 which completely changed my life. My full story is here.
When I returned home after 9 weeks between hospital and rehabilitation I sunk myself deep into months of research. I was so eager to find answers to all the questions that had been going around in my mind during that time.
To my surprise I found some real life-changing information that have become all the amazing resources on my blog. I wanted to have it all in one space for others going through the same thing because I know how terrifying and lonely it can be. I put all of the critical information I discovered back then in this post - My advice to someone newly diagnosed which includes the films I watched and books I read during those initial months that changed everything for me.
One of the most critical is the OMS (Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis) recovery program By Professor George Jelinek as it has literally changed my world. As soon as I found the OMS program and read the books everything changed in my mind. I could suddenly see myself living a relatively normal life again.
I now eat a plant-based diet enriched with good fats (flaxseed oil) and seafood which is best described as vegan with seafood (no dairy or meat). Along with some super simple lifestyle changes including daily meditation, daily sun exposure or vitamin D3 supplementation, regular exercise, resolving emotional dis-ease and an ongoing commitment to health and healing.
This program and my research has helped me to see how powerful and healing not only plant based living is but emotional health as well. It has done wonders for my MS, my mind and my happiness and I just keep going from strength to strength with my recovery. OMS makes you realise that a recovery from MS is really quite possible.
