Healthy Cookbooks - stay on track with these gems!
I've been using these two cookbooks lately and I want to share them with you as I highly recommend both of them to people living with MS and/or on OMS. Both of these women come from a health perspective using healthy whole-foods to improve their own health.
I recently got Deliciously Ella by Ella Woodward for my birthday and found some similarities in our stories. Ella was diagnosed with POTS disease which is a very rare illness that attacks the nervous system. It took her 2 years to recover through healthy whole-foods but she did and is now living a happy and healthy life. Her cookbook is gluten free, refined sugar free and vegan. She refers to herself a cook not a chef and created all of these recipes to help her own body heal and recover. I find her recipes really easy and simple to follow, theres nothing complicated about this cookbook, anyone can make these recipes. It's also great to finally have a healthy cookbook that doesn't use much coconut oil. She uses it for greasing most likely because It's very heat stable. But iIve discovered Macadamia Nut oil which is also very stable at high heat and has less saturated fat than coconut oil. However in the recent OMS book Dr Jelinek clarifies that Extra Virgin Olive Oil should be used when baking and cooking.
The Happy Cookbook
Lola Berry from The Happy Cookbook is a leading Australian nutritionist and spokesperson on nutrition and wellness. She loves healthy nourishing food and has used it to help her on her own weight loss and happiness journey. This cookbook is gluten free and refined sugar free. She does use a little dairy here and there but it doesn't dominate her recipes, and she uses meat from time to time aswell. It is very inspirational for meal ideas. She does however use more coconut oil but there are ways around this by subbing in another food or oil to replace it.
Both share a simple theme focusing on healthy wholefoods to heal their bodies. You will not find food full of chemicals, processed oils, unnatural food colouring, additives or preservatives in these books. All of their meals are gluten free, refined sugar free, healthy plant based recipes with the use of good fats, and the books in themselves are inspiring.
They get a thumbs up from me!!
